Bacon Wrapped Asparagus

Local produce is finally starting to come in and our newest addition is our green and purple asparagus! Most people know of the typical green asparagus, but purple asparagus may be new! It has a very similar flavor to green asparagus, but tends to be a little bit more tender and has more natural sugars than its green counterpart. We’ve bunched the green and purple asparagus together, so you’ll get to compare the two when you try them! This recipe is a good introduction to for those iffy about the flavors, and the purple asparagus will add a nice colorful addition to your plate!
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Spray the rack with nonstick spray. In a small bowl, whisk together oils, brown sugar and garlic. Set aside.
  3. Bunch together 5-6 asparagus spears and tightly wrap a piece of bacon around the bundle. Place on a wire rack seam-side down and repeat.
  4. Using a pastry brush, brush the spears thoroughly with the oil/sugar mixture.
  5. Give each bundle a hefty sprinkle of sesame seeds. Roast for 35-40 minutes, or until bacon is crispy. Serve warm.


  • 2-3 bunches of asparagus
  • 4 slices Heritage Farms thick cut bacon
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 garlic clove, minced or pressed
  • 1/2 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
