Check 6 is a new local, North Carolina Brewery that has recently opened in Southport, NC. If you find Southport, NC out of your realm, you can find 1-2 micro brews on The Veggie Wagon’s taps. The Veggie Wagon is located in Carolina Beach, NC- also known as Pleasure Island(comprised of Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Fort Fisher). The Veggie Wagon always keeps 10 NC micro brews on rotating taps. Check 6 regularly offers over 10 beers on tap in their own taproom. All of their beers have have some type of aviation theme and tie into the name of their brewery. CHECK SIX is the phrase used by fighter pilots that means to look behind you for enemy aircraft. References from fighter pilot’s position and the direction of the aircraft are given by the clock. 12 o’clock is straight ahead, 9 o’clock is directly off to the left wing, 6 o’clock is directly behind. So CHECK SIX is short for check your six o’clock position. Since 6 o’clock is the most vulnerable spot where it is difficult to see and the best place for enemy aircraft to fire guns or missiles.
