Italian Style Swiss Chard


Wash Swiss chard thoroughly; drain. Tear leaves into small pieces. Set aside.

Cut stalks into inch size pieces. In large saucepan saute cut up stalks, onion, garlic in olive oil. Add salt, pepper, celery salt, and lemon juice to pan. Reduce heat. Add Swiss chard leaves. Cover. Simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. (To this may be added 1 tablespoon capers, 1 1/2 cups chopped tomatoes and sprinkled with cheese before serving.)

  • 1 bag of washed and trimmed Swiss chard
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • ½ cup chopped green onion
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 pinch celery salt
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon capers (optional)
  • 1 ½ cup chopped or roasted tomatoes (optional)
