The Veggie Wagon is proud to announce that we have recently teamed up with two additional, local certified Organic farmers, to continue to make a wider variety of  organically and locally grown NC produce available to Pleasure Island year round. Today we received local Organic Elephant Garlic and Purple Kalerab, and are looking forward to some of the more diverse vegetables in the future. Kalerab is a round root vegetable that makes for a healthy snack. You peel it to eat it and it is a nutritious and crunchy root vegetable. It can be roasted  or peeled for a raw snack. Elephant garlic is a more obscure garlic variety and it is definitely worth the wait! It is less potent and much smoother than the regular garlic you get from the store. We sell it by the pound rather than by the head.

Local Strawberries and heirloom tomatoes will soon be back in Carolina Beach, NC. After a couple of great meetings with our local farmers, the consensus is that the mild winter will again allow produce to arrive slightly earlier than originally forecasted. We are expecting local NC heirloom tomatoes and strawberries to be arriving the last week in March or the first week in April. Additionally, naturally grown cucumbers and lettuce heads should  be arriving in the next couple of weeks. For those who have an itch to start planting your gardens, we are now selling Super Sweet Onion Bulbs by the pound at The Veggie Wagon, located in Carolina Beach, NC (Just South of  The Lake). Please be sure to join us on Facebook(The Veggie Wagon) to keep up with all the new and latest arrivals.
